All original Texas steel. The only body modification is the gas tank to trunk and filler pipe to rear fender. This is a very honest 1990s built car with nothing to hide.
The car was originally purchased for Tom’s dad to drive in the early 1990s. By the time he got it ready to drive, his father passed away. There the car sat, tucked away, fully restored (not that it was a hard resto being a low km body from Texas) waiting for someone to turn her over.
Tom was approached in the summer of 1995 several months after his father had passed with the opportunity to buy a crashed cigarette boat with a LS7 454ci engine. It was originally out of a 1971 Chevelle and immediately sparked something in his hot rod heart. A deal was made, an engine acquired, and Tom also learned the rest of the Chevelle drive train was still at the shop where the cigarette boat was built in Mississauga Ontario.
Tom still to this day isn’t sure why it happened, but it did. They pulled apart his recently restored 1940 Chev. The big block was fully rebuilt and reunited with its original transmission – a TH400. The rear end was swapped out for a Ford 9″ with 3:23 gears and a ladder bar assembly. The solid front end is from a 37 Chev truck and it has four wheel drum brakes. The flame job was done in house by Tom and his team at the time. Decals were applied to the door as a tribute to the famous 1960s-70s Ontario drag car ‘BADDASS’.
It runs, drives, stops and will give any street car a run for their money.
Tom enjoyed the car for years at various cruise nights and shows. He even made the front page of the newspaper by doing a burnout leaving a cruise night in Rockwood. The following week, the police were there waiting for him to leave. He’ll also tell you about the time he raced a guy leaving the Canadian Tire show in Georgetown. The guy had a running start and Tom still blew his doors off. When they got to the next light, the other guy got out of the car, turned to Tom only to show him he had peed himself!
This is the second car of Tom’s collection to come onto the market. If you want to own a serious power house, this is your chance to make your friends piss their pants!
