Barry’s ’67 Pontiac Firebird

Pre Sixties Vintage Auto Supply: What type of vehicle do you have?
Barry Cummins: 1967 Pontiac Firebird
Can you give us some history of your car or truck?
Our car was originally purchased in 1967 from Rothe Pontiac in Burbank, California. It was a 250HP 326 4 speed car equipped with deluxe interior, rally gauge cluster, console, radio, fold down rear seat, rally II wheels, and disc brakes.
Prior to coming out to Australia from California in 2005, the second U.S. owner had fitted an era correct 400 c.i. motor, Edelbrock intake and quadrajet, Doug’s headers, brake booster, 8.2″ Camaro C clip rear axle, and 15″ rally II wheels with BFG T/A’s.
The Australian owner that imported it fitted March accessory drive brackets and serpentine belt kit, Vintage Air AC kit, Hurst shifter, fitted lowered front coils, front and rear aftermarket sway bars, and gave it a coat of paint.
Where did you find it?
I first saw it in 2005 when it arrived in Sydney and expressed an interest in it, then didn’t see it for another 6-7 years. I saw it at a friend’s workshop in 2013 and heard the owner was looking to sell.
How long have you owned it?
Since March 2013
What work have you done?
Edelbrock performer alloy heads, new Edelbrock performer intake, rebuilt quadrajet, new set of Doug’s headers, Edelbrock alloy water pump, Comp Cams XE 262 cam, Caltracs bars, new seat trims fitted, new carpet, Morris Classic concepts lap/sash front seat belts, new bumpers, and all new badges.
Do you have any work planned for the future?
Change the rear axle from open to posi style.
What’s a favourite memory with your car or truck?
I just LOVE driving this car!!
